Our Community

Triton Regional Middle School, a part of the Triton Regional School District, serves the communities of Newbury, Rowley and Salisbury. Interstates 95, 495, Route 1, and the MBTA commuter rail provide easy access to Boston, the White Mountains, and the cities and towns of the Merrimac Valley.

The three towns in the district share a common colonial fishing and farming heritage that dates back to the late 1600s. The towns retain their greens and period architecture characteristic of New England villages. Boards of Selectmen and Town Meetings characterize local governments. Currently, small businesses and farming are prevalent in Newbury and Rowley while tourism dominates in Salisbury. The communities in our district are economically diverse but racially and ethnically similar. Newbury is a rural community that has a small, established year round beach community.

Rowley has been transitioning from its historical farming roots to that of a residential community with several small manufacturing companies as well as many recreational facilities.

Salisbury consists of 16 miles of farms, beaches and marshland as well as residential and commercial spaces. Due to the seasonal nature of the beach community, there is a large part of the population that is transient.

The district school system consists of three elementary schools, (one in each town), one middle school and one high school. The middle school and high school are located on the same campus in Byfield (a section of Newbury).

Triton Regional Middle School’s population for grades 7 & 8 is approximately 320 for the 2023-2024 academic year.
